this is the biggest problem when itcomes to being a self-learner let's talkabout this one of the hardest thingswhen it comes to being a self-learner isunderstanding that there isno clear path and i think that's reallydifficult for a lot of people forexample if you wanted to become a lawyeryou can go to university pass the barexam you're now an official lawyer ifyou wanted to be a doctor you'd go touniversity you go to medical school youdo your residency guess what now you'rea doctor even in tech if you were to goto college and get your cs degree andlearn these languages it could still notproduce that opportunity for youespecially when you're a self-taughtlearner there's no linear progression orstraight path that you can go down thatguarantees an opportunity comes your wayand i feel like this is where a lot ofbeginners startfreaking out and even if you look attwitter for example there are all thesetweets where it's like learn html learncss learn javascript and people run toit giving it likes because they'relooking for a clear concise roadmap thatthey can follow that they think producesthe opportunities that they're lookingforand the reality is there's just noguarantee in that respect you can dothings to help stack the deck in yourfavor you can do things like such aslearning the in-demand languages in yourarea that the companies are hiring forbut nothing guarantees if you do x y andz that it produces and guarantees youthat position the only things you canreally do is stack the deck in yourfavor make yourself the most valuablecandidate that you can make and reallymake sure that you're producing somevalue that an employer is going to sayyou know whati really like what you're doing here ithink a lot of people think you'reentering to tech is going to be astraight line fact of the matter is it'sgoing to be a crazy mess take me forexample i started learning html css andjavascript from javascript i went topython i realized there's no opportunityin my area for python i didn't stickwith it and i stuck with java from javai started learning spring framework andfrom spring framework i just realized avery common stack in my area is javaangular so i had to go back and learnjavascript because i completely forgotthe whole thing and then i startedlearning angular that gave me my stackmy entry point into the career fieldthat i'm in do me a favor and drop alike on this video and if you do i'llmake sure that the console errors nevercome your wayas a self-taught learner there's so muchdoubt and you're heading down this pathyou're trying to make this progress andyou're looking for validation orreassurance that you're actually doingthe right things and i thinkthis is like a bad recipe at timesbecause we're always so focused on wherewe're going we're so go go go go that weforget to pay attention to where we areand where we've beenand there was a moment in time wherehtml was so intimidating to you and youconquered it there was a moment wherecss was this crazy beast that you neverthought you would understand and youstarted learning about it there was amoment where javascript was a positionthat you dreamed that you would beworking on right and you're in themiddle of what you once looked forwardtotake a moment take a step backand recognize where you are in theprogress that you're making i know it'sintimidating i know there's a lot morethat can be done but trust me thosemoments where you take a moment and justlike really look at what's happeningit allows you to appreciate how faryou've come and let you know how badassyou really are but most of all i thinkone of the biggest things is recognizingeverything that you've accomplished thusfar it makes everything that you'reheading towards a little bit more easierbut understand there's no straight pathyou may bow jump all over the place youmay learn this one thing here learnanother thing there it's completely okaywhat matters the most and this iscrucial is you learn your fundamentalsand scale with it and i think this is abig thing that a lot of beginners don'tpay attention to they're racing to somearbitrary location to try and reach thisdeadline that they've created in theirown head but in reality take your timebut make sure you're building offthe fundamentals because that is goingto take you to exactly where you want tobe now i could talk about this all daybut i want you to check out my othervideos so check out my other videos andi will see you on the next one
