NEW PS5 System Update: Discord Voice Chat, VRR 1440p, Redesigned Game Hubs, & More.

the next major PS5 system softwareupdate has just been released this wouldbe the March 2023 firmware and likealways there's a fair amount of newchanges features improvements andquality of life updates to go over[Music]variable refresh rate is Now supportedfor 1440p resolution at the same timeSony's also adjusted the parameters of1440p support so that it includes morecompatible displays head to the screenand video settings to test 1440p outputto see if your display is Now supportedand from there you can enable vrrDiscord functionality has now beenexpanded previously you could onlydisplay what PS4 or PS5 game you areplaying to your Discord friends but nowyou can transfer calls to your PS5you'll have to re-link your Discordaccount again to accept new permissionsbut after you've successfully linkedyour account you can transfer calls overto your console via PC or mobile duringa call you'll see a new option that saystransfer to PlayStation then pick yourconsole which shows the nickname you'vegiven it and select transfer voiceon PS5 you'll now see a Discord voicechat card appear that has your usualcontrols you can adjust the balanceboard chat and game audioyou can mute allor you can quickly access expanded voicechat settingsyou can also mute individual callMembers or adjust their audio levelsat the top you can also designate if youwant to hear the Discord call or anyin-game voice chat that you might be apart of while playing a gamethere's new voice commands available forcapturing gameplay you can say heyPlayStation capture that and it willsave a video of your gameplay the lengthof the clip is what you set in thecapture and broadcast settingsyou could also say the exact amount youwant to capturehey PlayStation capture the last fiveminutes[Music]you can also do manual or controlledrecordingshey PlayStationstart recordingand Playstation stop recording[Music]Game Hub Pages have been redesignedagain you'll now see new modules on thefar right which shows your totalprogress and total Play Time gameprogress may not always appear theseseem to be tied directly to main missionstory cards and are not entirelyrepresentative of overall completionplay time is self-explanatory butthere's been reports for a while thatthis tracking isn't accurate in myexperience it's accurate initially butat some point tapers off withdouble-digit hours we're still notexactly thatsoftwarein game base you can now access theshare screen feature from someone'sprofile right inside game base you canshare your screen or request theirs fromherefrom the voice chat card there's now ajoinable game option that appears forparty members that are playing somethingyou can join immediatelywhen playing a multiplayer game withcross-play functionality you can now seeall players from the game session cards that are using the PlayStation Mobileapp now appear as online on your friendslistin your game Library there's now VRfilters to separate psvr and psvr2 gamesVR modes also apply to these filtersyou can now hit options on a game listto change the default sort order of thatlistand when you're adding games you canaccess sort and filter optionsunder save data and game app settingsthere is a new online multiplayersessions option for game presets hereyou can set your preferences for who canjoin who can invite for multiplayersessions you create like the other gamepreset settings this has to be supportedby the games you play so this may notalways Auto Select for youPS5 will now make courtesy checks forsave data in the cloud if you don't haveany saved to console storage so forexample you launch a PS4 game and youhave saved data on PS plus cloud storagebut not on ps5's local storage anotification will make you aware of thisand from there you can expand thenotification and grab your save filethis also applies to PS5 games that areable to read and import PS4 save filesthe data transfer process now alsosupports PS5 to PS5 consoles the sameoptions from a PS4 to PS5 migrationapply you can do this over a local Wi-Ficonnection or a lan cable connectedbetween consolesPS5 no longer makes a distinctionbetween downloaded or disk installedgames previously you may have noticedthis when trying to play one with theother installed you would get thisprompt telling you that you would needto delete and switchthat's no longer the case so if you sayhave the disk version of a gameinstalled but then you decide to buy itdigitally or even claim it via PS plusyou can just keep playing the installedversionin the media Gallery you can nowmanually upload
