theoriginal Fallout worked on many gamessince then still killing it at obsidianTim recently was part of an interviewthat was celebrating the Next Gen updatethe outer worlds was getting and hespoke very briefly on a remasteredversion of Fallout New Vegas long storyshort he wants it he wants to have ithappen Fallout New Vegas Legendary gameto many people it is the best Falloutgame but when it first came out reviewerwere super critical on the engine thegame was built on it was the same onethey used for Fallout 3 and at thatpoint it was already showing its age andalong with that engine came a slew oftechnical problems goofy animationsdesync issues it was a kind of a mess atfirst standard like Bethesda RPG launchstuff and with that in mind Tim wassaying it'd be really cool to have aremastered version of Fallout that waythe entire Focus could be on the storythat they were trying to make ratherthan like oh these bugs and technicalissues and yeah that would be cool butFallout New Vegas it's like we love thatgame despite those issues we love thatgame because the story is amazing andthe side quests are better than a lot ofthese other games as main quests so whata remaster really be necessary and whilewe're on the subject is it reallynecessary to give the outer worlds anext-gen update no hate on that game Ireally enjoyed that game as well butit's like it just came out a coupleyears ago I know a lot of people arehungry for a new Fallout XP experiencewhether it be Fallout 5 or a sequel toFallout New Vegas but from myunderstanding that might be a little bitfarther down the road than people expectBethesda is obviously working onshipping star field right now and I'mpretty sure it's common knowledge atthis point that after that they're goingto be moving on working full time on theElder Scrolls 6 obsidian besides thisouter worlds update is working on avowed and then it's going to be workingon the outer worlds too Bethesda andobsidian they have a lot of people soit's possible that they have some peopleworking on very early stuff for a newFallout game but I can't imagineanything major happening at eitherstudio until they ship those projects Ijust talked about this whole situationalso has me thinking about Xboxremasters in general obviously remastersare kind of cool now I guess like theyget a lot of flack but they sell reallywell PlayStation obviously has shippedout three versions of The Last of UsPart One a remaster and a remake andthey seem to be doing pretty well ifXBox was to remaster or remake somethinglike Oblivion would they see the sameresults I mean I personally would killfor a remake of Oblivion that is myfavorite Elder Scrolls game I wouldliterally do a backflip out of happinessbut since game passes in the equation Iwonder if Xbox is like nah wouldn'treally be worth it when looking at theeffort put in versus the return let'sjust add frame and resolution boost tothe old games and then set these teamsto working on new experiences to NintendoPlayStation and Xbox right off the bathe makes the assertion that Xboxrevenue-wise performs more closely toNintendo but operationally it is moresimilar to PlayStation when it comes toXbox and all of the platform holderstheir goals are obvious right it's tosell Hardware sell games and sell theirsubscription Services he reminds us thatyes while Xbox sells their consoles at aloss they make a lot of their money themajority of their money from sellinggames and selling Game Passsubscriptions and subscription to Xboxlives other services like that we'vetalked about on this channel before howXbox is kind of getting crafty thisgeneration that they're kind of movingaway from the straight up console salerace and exploring other options puttingtheir games on PC exploring gamestreaming focusing more on the ecosystemversus just console sales and apparentlythat approach is going well they hit anall-time high and turn terms of activemonthly users according to Derek's datawe're sitting at 120 million activeusers on Xbox as of 2023. Game Pass hasbeen steadily growing in subscribers andyou can see on this graph as well thatrevenue from games and services has beensteadily Rising as well even after theintroduction of Game Pass there are someannoying things in this data as wellboth PlayStation and Xbox make a ton ofmoney on game add-ons and microtransactions so those probably aren'tgoing anywhere in the foreseeable futurehe also shows off the fact that Nintendois kind of a unicorn in the situationbecause they make most of their moneyoff of first party titles versusthird-party titles for Xbox andPlayStation and they also make a profiton their Hardware versus Xbox who servestheir consoles at a loss switch onlineis also getting more subs than Xbox gamepass which I thought was reallyinteresting because in many ways it'slike the opposite of Game Pass and GamePass the whole thing is like day in Daygame these new games the day they comeout on Game Pass and Nintendo was likewe're gonna give you guys old games likereally old games like games off theSuper Nintendo N64 Game Boy and peopleare just like eating that up andwhenever I see stuff like this I justcannot help but think and you guys arenot gonna lie every time I talk aboutthis there's someone in the commentslike what are you talking about you'retalking crazy Ray but I really wonder ifthere's a future or Xbox doesn't reallyfocus too much on selling peopleconsoles and just giving them the gamesand services directly to them and againI know that makes people mad becausepeople are like what is Xbox without theXbox and yes that makes sense but yetyou gotta think that there's someone atXbox at Microsoft that's looking atthese numbers and it's like okay we'renot beating our competitors in thehardware sales race and we're alsolosing money on every console that wesell but we're making really good moneyon just delivering people our games andhaving them subscribe to Game Pass andXbox Live Gold is their scenario wherewe can cut out this weird middle man andjust do what makes us money givingpeople games and getting them subscribedto our stuff do I think that's gonnahappen tomorrow or even by the end ofthis generation no because obviously theeasiest way to get people to buy Xboxgames and subscribe to Xbox stuff is ifthey have an Xbox of course but in thefuture as the PC part of the Xboxecosystem grows maybe if cloud gaming issort of comparable to a consoleexperience I say this because it'salready happened in the other sectors ofthe entertainment industry people arelike oh dope I don't need to buyanything else a CD player a cassetteplayer an MP3 player to listen to mymusic I could just stream it to devicesthat I already have but I'm gonna dothat oh you're telling me I don't need afreaking box to watch my favorite moviesand television I could just stream themto devices that I already have but I'mgonna do that why not the video gameindustry why not Xbox and I'm not sayingthat line of thinking would work for theother platforms because PlayStation theydon't have to worry about it they're themarket leader they have a huge installbase and they're starting to migratetheir stuff over to PC and when you lookat Nintendo their Hardware is what setsthem apart they make money off of it theNintendo switch being able to take itwith you and have it on the dock the Wiiobviously that revolutionized a lot theWii U not so much but listen all I'msaying in the future there may be ascenario when we're talking about Xboxas just the brand and not so muchassociating it with a specific consolenow it's time for your regularlyscheduled Activision Blizzard updateit's the biggest thing going on for Xboxright now for better and for worse as weknow Microsoft is being challenged onall sorts of fronts when it comes tothis acquisition they're getting sued bythe FTC the CMA and the EU have come outand opposed this deal but according toPhil Spencer they are not sweating manthe times asked Phil Spencer What wouldhappen to Xbox if this deal did not gothrough for whatever reason he said thisis an important acquisition for us it'snot some linchpin to the long term xBoxwill exist if this deal does not gothrough and he even says that hewelcomes the challenge he enjoyseducating Regulators when it comes tothe video game industry he says most ofthe time in my career at Xbox as I'vemet with government Regulators there'sbeen a real lack of knowledge about thegames industry I've appreciated spendingtime with them and in certain caseshelping to educate I think for a lot ofThe Regulators this is the first timethat they've looked at this industrywhich is totally true I envisioned likea bunch of like old or middle-agedpeople like sitting on this Council andthere's just not people that I associatewith having a lot of video gameknowledge but I totally agree with PhilSpencer in this statement there was alot to be excited for as an Xbox fanbefore all this stuff about acquiringActivision Blizzard the 20th anniversaryof Xbox times were good man everyone washaving a great time we were all lookingforward to the future they just droppedan early version of Halo infinite ForzaHorizon 5 came out and we were alllooking towards the future at thesegames like Contraband Fable Starfieldredfall the Indiana Jones game hellblade2 a vowed outer Worlds 2 and many manymore stuff like they have Bethesda guysand we haven't even scratched thesurface of what they could offer but ifit's anything like Hi-Fi rush I am superexcited there's so much to look forwardto if you're an Xbox fan and may notalways seem that way because of you knowthings getting delayed things not alwaysgoing as planned it's already betterthan it was a couple of years ago Icannot wait to see what they do in thefuture and if they acquire ActivisionBlizzard great it would be so cool tosee some of the other stuff that hasbeen sidelined in favor of Call of Dutyand these other titles be brought backunder Microsoft's leadership and if theydon't that would be a huge bummer and ofcourse Microsoft had to pay a huge finebut I still think Xbox has somethingleft in the tank even if they don'tclose this deal next up let's talk aboutanother legendary RPG I'm talking aboutBaldur's Gate okay so last week Baldur'sGate 3 got a release date yay August31st 2023 but it was revealed at thestate of play so they were like oh it'sPlayStation 5 baby and people were likewhoa hold up wait a minute what aboutthe Xbox version what's the deal here isthis another money hat situation anotheryear of exclusivity PlayStation tryingto keep this game off of Xbox consolesand leave Xbox fans in the cold and thenlarion Studios came out and said no nono no no that's not the case here's whatthey said they said followingyesterday's PlayStation 5 and releasedate announcement we've clarified thatright now we're planning to releaseBaldur's Gate for PC Mac GeForce now andPS5 that said we have no exclusivity forwhich platforms we can bring bg3 to orwhen and we'll announce support foradditional platforms if and when they'reready we're seeing variedinterpretations on what that means so wewanted to clarify further we've had anXbox version of Baldur's Gate 3 indevelopment for some time now we've runinto some technical issues in developingthe Xbox Port that have stopped us fromfeeling 100 confident in announcing ituntil we're certain we found the rightSolutions specifically we've been unableto get Split Screen Co-op to work at thesame standard on both Xbox series X andS which is a requirement for us to shipoh no guys say it ain't so man theseries s just cannot catch a break nowlet me say before I go any further withthis y'all know I love the series S Iown one I have the X I have the S and Ithink it is a great machine especiallyfor the price I got mine at 240 dollarsand that game Run cyberpunk pretty wellI'm pretty impressed with how it runs aHogwarts Legacy as well I've playedForza on it I've played chivalry 2 on itand it's pretty decent man if I tried tobuild a PC that I runs those games for240 bucks it that's impossible man it'simpressive what this thing can achieveat the price point that it's at but moreand more we are hearing thesethird-party developers being like it'shard to work with the series s the lasttime we had this conversation was whenGotham Knights came out everyone waspointing at the series ass because it'sdeveloper from Rocksteady was like theseries s sucks people don't want to workwith it blah blah blah and then he gotbullied off Twitter it's not really asimilar situation but sort of similarbecause it seems to be a theme here thatstruggling with these multiplayer gamesGotham Knight obviously the focus was onCo-op and that you don't have to beTethered to each other you can exploreGotham freely independent of yourteammates and now they're saying theycan't get split screen to work on theseries s and honestly guys that makessense to me yes the series s can doreally cool things on these singleplayer games sometimes multiplayer gameslike Forza and chivalry like I wastalking about but for any of you guyswho are like me who tried to runBorderlands 3 on a base Xbox One youkind of have an idea of how the series scould be struggling to run two versionsof the game at the same time forBaldur's Gate 3. now I gotta be honestguys I am a little worried Xbox has sortof this problem where for whateverreason games skip over their platformwhether it be a deal with Sony or likethese jrpgs that just decide not to cometo Xbox because they don't sell wellquote unquote I don't want third-partydevelopers to have another reason toskip the Xbox platform I personallydon't know how they would go aboutfixing that though like the cat'salready out of the bag millions ofSeries S consoles have already been soldand again I love my Series S but I'm notsure if XBox should explore thepossibility of maybe dropping the seriess requirement when it comes tothird-party developers specifically thefirst party they seem to be prettyconfident that they could bring theirtitles make them playable on this X onthe S on PC like is it time to have anXbox series S Plus is it time to releasea digital version of the X and phase outthe series S I don't know what thecorrect answer is in the situationbecause again so many series s consoleshave already been sold and I can'timagine a better way to piss off allthose people who bought the console thanby saying like oh we're gonna leave itbehind we're gonna abandon it shouldthey have just released a digital seriesX from the jump from launch I'm goingback and forth on that now because onone end the majority of console salesfor Xbox right now are Series S consolesthe series s is kind of carrying themalmost outside of Game Pass of coursebut as we go on into this generation arethe memory constraints the GPUconstraints of the series s are theygoing to continue being a problem are wegoing to keep getting more news aboutlike oh we're having trouble developingthis game for the series s compared tothe X and the PlayStation 5 and we can'tship it on Xbox until we figure it out Ican see that being a huge source offrustration for the fan base and for thevideo game industry in general buthopefully Xbox has something plannedgoing forward to avoid these kinds ofsituations I don't know if it's a newseries s a more powerful series s adigital series X but I kind of feel likethey wouldn't have released the consolein the first place if they weren'tconfident that it could carry themthroughout this generation anyways guysthat's all
