it waswe did we've tried to do this cordiallyacross party lines and really becauseit's not he's just not he's not doingcorrectly so chairman McCall had toissue the suspense The subpoena so nowwe're going to start to unpack this nowwe're going to be able to find out theinformation that the American publicwants and we want as well and that's ourjob as legislators so this is part ofthe uh the the state department ofresponse to the subpoena the departmentfollowed up with the committee toreiterate its willingness to provide abriefing about the concerns raised aboutthe challenges identified uh identifiedby Embassy Kabul including The Descentchannel the committee chose instead ofissuing a subpoena the departmentremains committed to providing thecommittee with information it needs toconduct its oversight function so ifthey want to brief you behind closeddoors they don't want us to seeyeah well that's our job to make surethe American public is right in andthat's what we plan on doing uh what ifthey don't comply do you know what'snext do I know what's next no I don'tit's the game that we play up here inWashington DC unfortunately but atholding the majority and and again withchairman photosuh disturbing yeah I mean I startedAfghanistan alongside my brothers andsisters in arms and I won't say that wethis was an evil we saw this coming itwas just a mismanagement of not onlyManning and equipment and it was and Ithink the bite Administration failedmiserably and rushed to judgment didn'tlisten to the the leadership on theground and nobody was everything wassilent and we're not sharing anyinformation and this was the result welost 13 Marines uh or 12 Marines in asailor and it just shouldn't ever happenthis this what you're seeing now is justa transition into what we're seeing inUkraine is what we're seeing in China toTaiwan I ran Syria so on and so forththere's no question we'll watch 74attacks since 2021 in Syria at our 900people that are there and it happenedover the weekend we respond and theyrespond again that's total lack ofrespect and it's reflective of thisAdministration not of you guys thatfight when asked in the Wall StreetJournal in a poll how much patriotismmeans to this country in 1998 70 means alot now it's at 38 over 50 percent ofthem are Republicans less than 30 areDemocrats what's your response to thatuh well I have to be honest if you'regoing to come down to Texas to Districteight we're the most patrioticfaith-based District I would argue inthe countryum and uh I'm I'm very very behind thatstatement but you see that and I and I'malways very optimistic about our countryand I know the people that love ourcountry and there may be pockets ofDistinction where we're P you know Ithink uh especially with our youngergeneration and I hate to pick on thembut you know they came it seems likesome of them like to pray to tick tockwhen they should be praying to the LordI think we've kind of lost our way but Iblame it you know it's a parenting thingyou know I make sure that I raise mysons a faith-based family my wife is thequeen of the castle and they will showrespect they will get their educationthey will do it the way that I wasraised you know in East Texas maybe uh Iwish we could share that with the restof the country maybe they could takesome notes from it absolutely and I dothink we're just a leader I also think apresident to talk positively about ourcountry on a regular basis and westopped tearing each other apart onCapitol Hill would go a long way thereyou go uh so glad you're serving youcontinue to serve
