cryptography is a big Focus areametaversethe first time people might have come tolearn about the metaverse term was inthe dystopian sci-fi novel Snow Crash byNeil Stevenson or when they watched thefilm Ready Player one or sometimes it isvery closely linked to Mark Zuckerbergthe Facebook Founders vision of this VRworld for me the metaverse is muchsimpler is the more immersive digitalworld where we see a merging of thedigital and the real world it doesn'tjust mean virtual reality it involvesaugmented reality Holograms as well asvirtual and even mixed reality what weare seeing is this being applied if younow do a Google search for dinosaurs orunicorns you now have the option ofputting it in an augmented reality ininto your room or we have virtual try onso you can try glasses and clothes andjewelry a bit like a Snapchat filter onyour phone for me these are all moreimmersive better experiences that for meillustrate where the metaverse will takeus in the futureweb 3 web 3 sometimes linked to themetaverse which adds confusion becausepeople talk about the first version ofthe internet which was website thesecond the more user generated internetand social media and then the third isthe more immersive for me web 3 is muchmore about the decentralization drivenby blockchain technology andcryptocurrency there's also anideological drive to move power awayfrom centralized large organizationsthat have these huge monopolies so if weapplycryptocurrencies they challenge existingbanks for example in social networks andsearch we see a move towardsdecentralization using blockchaintechnology and we currently have bigorganizations like Facebook and Googlethat are dominant in this space so adecentralized web3 social network wouldin theory be controlled by users andoperators so true true democracyagain ownership is a big part of this wehave big platforms like Spotify andapple music today in the future a moredecentralized world would mean thatmusicians have a direct relationshipwith their customers they get all ormuch more of the revenue and the wholeplatform is owned by users and contentcreators so for me web 3 is aboutdecentralization and blockchain5G simply the next generation of mobiledata standards they have seen a crazyamount of conspiracy theories givingpeople ideas that could be linked to theCorona virus and all other sorts ofhealth health risks basically this isnot much different to the thirdgeneration the fourth generation ofmobile standards and in fact 5G is stillan evolving standard most of the currentinfrastructure that we have in placeactually relies on slower forms of 5Gthat effectively piggyback on the 4Ginfrastructure that we've had for a verylong time what we will see now is a moveto towards this true stand-alone 5G thatis
